I am an amateur fashion and design geek. Primarily I am interested in what I call fashion anthropology: clothing's role in society and in the economy, as a form of artistic expression, a marker of identity, a product in a cycle of production and consumption, etc etc etc. I am very concerned about the environmental impact of fashion design, and its impact on developing economies and human rights. Also, I love sewing; I try to make as much of my own clothing as I can manage. I love the feel of fabric and playing with color. My interest in fashion has nothing to do with following trends or celebrity/label worship. I just love clothes, I love looking at clothes, and I love looking at women wearing clothes. I joined Wikipedia so that I could work on publishing an article about China Machado, the first major fashion model of color. And hopefully I will be doing some other work with the WikiProject Fashion. I am the author of the blog Analogue Chic and the designer of a fledgling fashion line of the same name. /China Machado Sandbox
