Rashad Mohammed Thabet Murad (1970), Syrian Arabic dentist, was born in Riyadh in a well-known Damascene family . He lived in Syria and graduated from Ibn Khaldon high school in 1987, and joined Al-Ba’th Faculty of Dentistry University. He graduated and obtained a seventh rank in 1992, the owner of the Murad bridge invention in dentistry. Which contains a pontic also called Murad pontic, an amendment to the pontic used in the bridge of porcelain on metal was made, were acrylic material instead of porcelain was used. This in turn relieves the weight of the bridge and reduces the occlusal powers applied to the dental abutments. And gives the pontic a tissue basing. This bridge is used as a substitute for other indicated treatments especially clinical cases that require reducing the occlusal powers applied to the abutments. His life and his studies

After graduating from the Faculty of Dentistry in 1992, he joined the military service of the Association of Veterans in the Sebki Area in Damascus as a dentist who treats veterans and their families between November 1992 and 1994. Studied management at the academic Institution for Management Development at Damascus University and graduated in 1995, thus became one of the first doctors who have studied management. He studied Public Health in collaboration with WHO and graduated in 1997 and was appointed in the central administration of the Syrian Ministry of Health in the Directorate of dental health .His quest for educational attainment did not stop, particularly in supporting his specialization. Studied pharmacy at the University of Damascus, from which he graduated in 1999 and continued his studies for diploma and master's degree in pharmacy. Earned his Ph.D. in the field of pharmacy, Competence of drug effect, in 2008 with an honor degree. Titled “the effect of antioxidants in the prevention of spiky cells oral cancer in hamster ". The discussion committee consisted of, Dr.Iyad al-Shatti, famous pathology professor and former Minister of Health,Dr. Anton ALlaham professor of pharmaceutics and dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Damascus University, and Dr. Ramez Rustam professor of medicine at Al Ba’th university and Dean of the Medicine faculty and former Professor Dr Azzam aljundi, a professor of orthodontics and Scientific Research, the Dean of the College of Dentistry, and Prof.Dr.Sawsan almadhi Professor and Chairman, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology , Faculty of Pharmacy at Damascus University. He won the Basel award for science and health research in 1999 and 2001, was appointed Director of the oral and dental health in Syria and the director of the promote oral health program by World Health Organization between 2002 and 2010 .

His career

Dr.Rashad held several positions in the field of health , where he was appointed director of the oral and dental health in Syrian Arab Republic and the director of the promote oral health program at the national level in collaboration with the [World Health Organization] (WHO) between 2002 and 2010. He is a consulting professor in the WHO organization and an instructor at Damascus University to teach pharmacology in the College of Pharmacy in 2010. He was elected [captain] of the dentists in Damascus in 2006 and his re-election in 2010 up till now. He was appointed as head of the Syrian Scientific Council in oral public health specialization since 2008 up till now. He practiced his profession as a dentist in Damascus since 1993 until now, and was distinguished in dentistry, he earned a membership at [The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry] since 2006. Dr.Rashad did not stop at his scientific research, but he built medical center in Damascus named "advanced dental care for treatment and cosmetic dentistry" in which he provides with his medical staff all medical services and most important cosmetics since 2009. He has had presence in the international forums where he visited many universities around the world as a visit doctor or lecturer such as London University UK, Zurich University Switzerland, Copenhagen University Denmark , Vienna University Austria, Oslo University Norway, California University USA, Al Rabat University Morocco, Cairo University Egypt, Rabat Aleppo and Teshreen University Syria. He is lecturing specialization of cosmetic dentistry, Pharmacology and public health since 2003 at the faculty of dentistry and pharmacy for several Syrian universities which include Damascus, Al Baath, Kalamoon, and International University for Science and technology, Syrian international university for science and technology.

His contributions in the field of dentistry

The most important achievements in the field of dentistry is his invention named Murad bridge ,which won him a registered patent number WO2013137835A1 , he was granted a patent on December 4, 2011. The invention is a new bridge in dentistry named "Murad bridge" for lack of bony support cases which faces the members of our Syrian community as a result of [oral health] negligence. Due to the financial costs on the individual and the dentist, if lack of teeth was faced, there is no need to increase the number of implants, but to use the new invention to compensate. It is a modified method for traditional methods built on the fundamental abutments combined with the method of removable prosthetics, in addition to the invention of the laboratory and grid method to join each other. This invention has been applied in many cases, its success percentage exceeded 90%, and was recorded worldwide in Geneva. Dr.Rashad was awarded the first-class honesty medal by the President of the Syrian Arab Republic. He is thus the first university professor, pharmacist and dentist who receives this medal.
