Tequila (band)

First years Edit The origin of the band is in the year 1976 when Alejo Stivel and Ariel Rot recently arrived in Madrid, exiled because of the military dictatorship established in Argentina, and the rock group with southern influences called Spoonful Blues Band, formed by Julián Infante (guitar), Felipe Lipe (bass) and El Oso (drums).

In one of the several nights where the two Argentines were exploring the Madrid night, they met on the stage of a club called the New M&M a group called Spoonful Blues Band. Ariel and Alejo were impressed with them and the two Argentinians offered their services, but since they lacked a venue and musical equipment, they decided to pass them up. That situation would change four months later when the Spoonful Blues Band was left without a guitarist and Felipe Lipe offered Ariel Rot a test, where they were impressed and immediately Ariel was integrated into the band. A short time later, Alejo joined as a vocalist, since Ariel was in charge of the voice and guitar before. [2] During those first years, and most of the history of the formation, they practiced in a local by the Arturo Soria street.

During this stage, the name of the band was changed to Tequila, suggested by Felipe Lipe for the song Cheap Tequila by Johnny Winter.

Origins

[edit]

In 1976, the musicians Alejo Stivel and Ariel Rot arrived in Madrid, exiled from the Argentine military dictatorship. At a club named New M&M they met the band Spoonful Blues Band. The group was formed by Julián Infante (guitar), Felipe Lipe (bass) and El Oso (drums). The two Argentines offered their services, but lacking a venue and musical equipment, their proposal was rejected. However, when the band guitarist left four months later, Felipe Lipe offered Rot an audition. They were positive impressed and Ariel was immediately integrated into the group. A short time later, Alejo also joined as a vocalist (Ariel was in charge of vocals and guitar before).[1]

Albocàsser 87A Ares del Maestrat, Vilar de Canes Benassal

25th and 28th May 1938

La Sénia aerodrom airfield Junkers Ju 87

Source[1] y [2]

In January 1938, three Ju 87 As from the Legion Condor arrived. Several problems became evident—the spatted undercarriage sank into muddy airfield surfaces, and the spats were temporarily removed. The maximum 500 kg (1,100 lb) bomb load could only be carried if the gunner vacated his seat, therefore the bomb load was restricted to 250 kg (550 lb). [3] Coincidentally, on 25th and 28th May 1938 three Stukas bombed four small villages in Castellón province ( Albocàsser, Ares del Maestrat, Vilar de Canes, Benassal) killing 38 people.

These aircraft supported the Nationalist forces and carried out anti-shipping missions until they returned to Germany in October 1938[3]
