The DR Class 252, later renumbered to DB class 156, were a class of East German electric freight locomotives.

The locomotives were the last locomotives developed by the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the state railways of East Germany. Intended to be used on heavy freight work, due to german reunification and the merger of the Reichsbahn and the Bundesbahn, these locomotives were rendered redundant, with only the four prototypes being produced.
