History
[edit]Since their formation in 2016, the band has been tackling mental health issues through their music. They have made it their mission to fight stigma and provide a "group therapy dynamic."[1]
The band's name Citizen Soldier is the band's attempt to personify the struggles being fought within, and the band's goal to shine a light on the everyday struggles of those who feel overlooked and unappreciated.[2][3]
In 2017, after a few Single, the band initially released just one Extended play[3] before releasing their first album, Relentless, in 2019. The next album Down the Rabbit Hole was already released in 2020, followed by the two-part album This Is Your Sign Part I in 2021 and This Is Your Sign Part II in 2022.[4]
In May 2022, Citizen Soldier announced their fifth album, Scarecrow, with another 18 songs.
In November 2023 they released album ICU, and year later in November 2024 they released their seventh album Icarus.
Since 2020, the band has also distinguished itself primarily through the continuous release of new music.[5] Therefore, the band released the songs of new albums as singles first before being released collectively as an album.[6]
In 2020, the band gained attention for the first time when their music video for the song Would Anyone Care exceeded the million mark. Another YouTube success followed in the same year with the song I'm Not Okay.
