Gordon Wilson is chief executive officer and president of Galileo, a global distribution system (GDS) and business unit of Travelport.
Wilson has two decades of international experience in the travel industry and is responsible for Galileo’s worldwide activities, which are focused on delivering content, reservations technology and services to travel operators, travel management companies and corporations.[1] In addition to the Galileo GDS, Wilson is responsible for aiRES, a next-generation passenger services system for airlines, and Shepherd Systems, a provider of market intelligence to the travel industry.
Travelport announced in December 2006 that it plans to acquire Worldspan, a competing GDS, and merge it with Galileo, with Wilson as CEO and president.[2][3] Wilson has overseen efforts to combine the Galileo and Apollo reservation systems, with future plans to bring the Worldspan into the same system.[4]
Since joining Galileo in 1991, Wilson has served as vice president for global customer service delivery, managing director of Galileo Southern Africa, managing director of Galileo Portugal and Spain and general manager of airline sales and marketing for Galileo International. Most recently, he was president and CEO of the Travelport Business Group.
Wilson received his master’s degree in law from the University of Cambridge and a postgraduate diploma in air and space law from University College, London. He sits on the board of SITA.[5]
