that is just perfect for me! I am working on my cousin Sebastian Shaw's memoirs and he mentions that he toured some Philadelphia art galleries with her. She gives an account of him as S. Shaw, art critic and historian, in one of her travel books. Now I can see which one. Cheers! ixo (talk) 19:18, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

I am an American University student/Washington DC, I am doing a blog about Wikiproject-Feminism, and I would like to know more about your experience, and why you were interested in being involved in this section.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

My name is Shirin, and this is my email: sy1744a@student.american.edu

I am interested to know why you decided to be a member of the feminism wikiproject (why are you interested in this topic). How often do you make contribution? What do you usually edit or contribute? When did you start on this mission? I thank you again for your help, and if you wanted to add anything to these questions (and answer it too) I appreciate it, and if I think of something else I will tell you. Wik-Ed Women Session #5

Dear fellow Wikipedian,

I would like to personally invite you to the March edition of the Wik-Ed Women meetup, which will take place on March 15, from 6-10 in the evening. It will occur at Los Angeles Contemporary Archive, 2245 E Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90021 (downtown LA -- map). The building has a pink top with old signage for American Accessories, Inc. dba Princess Accessories (Photos [PDF]). There is on-site parking in the back, which also has an entrance. If you cannot attend in person, you are more than willing to work remotely, as we appreciate all help that you can provide. Finally, here is a link to the Facebook event, in case you want to invite friends, as we are always looking for new editors to help expand coverage of women on Wikipedia!

I hope to see you there! Cosmicphantom (talk) - via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 05:54, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

I had a lot of fun adding in the citations into this! Is Lilian Jane Gould necessarily the best title though? All the sources I see from her lifetime use Veley, and she married the year after she graduated so I doubt she published much under that name. Blythwood (talk) 00:45, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Heh, I was still working on expanding the citations when I noticed you had found a bunch more! Re the name: I went back and forth on this one. I usually put women scientists under the name they most used for publications, but I also found a lot of references to Lilian Gould and Lilian Jane Gould; Creese (the best single source) uses Lilian Gould. So in the end I chose Lilian Jane Gould as less liable to later conflicts (there is an actor named Lilian Gould) and created a redirect for Lilian J. Veley, her authorship name. However, if you feel differently, by all means change it up.Alafarge (talk) 00:52, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
OK. The Japanese temple cat story is the most Victorian British thing ever, especially the highly plausible excuse. "So here's an ancient Japanese temple, and here are the sacred cats that by tradition guard it." "OK, let's nick one. For science! But mostly for my personal collection that I'm not going to tell anyone about in its lifetime. Let's just blame some Chinese servant for taking it and say we thought it would be too awkward to give it back anyway." Re name, thanks. I hadn't noticed the redirect. Blythwood (talk) 01:04, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
LOL, no kidding. I also noticed how a lot of sources desperately want to credit Gould and her brother for bringing the very first EVER Siamese cats to Britain, but it appears they had already turned up a good decade earlier. Because myths are so much more fun than facts!Alafarge (talk) 01:19, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for creating this article! I just linked it to its Wikidata item. Sometimes it can take up to 2 months for this to happen. Because we would like to use Wikidata to count new article creations in the Womenin Red Project, it would be helpful if article creators would do this themselves. It is not hard to do at all. Just search on Wikidata for the article title, and then when you have the right item, scroll all the way to the bottom and select Wikipedia. Then choose en for enwiki or English Wikipedia and type or paste your article title and click save. For artists, this will enable the authority control template to be populated. Again thanks, and I hope I may have tempted you to check your past article creations. Jane (talk) 08:40, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Many thanks for this information, I had no idea it was something ordinary editors might do.Alafarge (talk) 23:19, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
From one ordinary editor to another - yes, it is just a wiki like Commons or any other language Wikipedia. In fact, before starting biographical articles, I use the "Prepare biography tool" called PrepBio for this now. It pulls all the relevant information from Wikidata and gives me a headstart on the article. Since I do a lot trying to track down artworks by women, I have created and populated most of these Wikidata items myself anyway. See for example this Wikidata item Q23063489 which recently resulted in this Wikipedia article: Blanche Paymal-Amouroux. Happy editing, Jane (talk) 08:32, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
Fascinating, I had no idea this tool existed. Alafarge (talk) 22:43, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

Wow, I just looked at your User page. You have really contributed a lot to Wikipedia. I also like writing about women, but nothing like you! I cant believe I was able to write about a woman that you didn't get around to writing about yet. Pure luck! Thanks for any help in improving the article I began. I probably wont go back to edit it, but its fun to watch it grow with the work of other editors. Kind of like watching a child begin to grow all on his own. Thanks for the improvements you made to my "baby."HugSnugBugRug (talk) 07:46, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I feel the same way—enormously gratified when someone takes an interest in adding to one of my pages.
