George Egri (Hungarian: Egri Zsolt; born 10 June 1982) is a Hungarian cybersecurity and web-hosting expert. He is the co-founder and CEO of BitNinja and the owner of the second largest shared-hosting company in Hungary, the Web-Server LtdCite error: The opening <ref>

BitNinja
[edit]He and three of his current colleagues founded BitNinja Ltd. in 2014. First they called the project Heimdall (after the Scandinavian god of security) but later they had to change it because of copyright issues[1]. BitNinja provides an all-in-one Linux cybersecurity tool for shared web hosting companies.
Server Protection
[edit]They protect more than 20,000 servers worldwide, defend 10+ million attacks daily and have blocked 40+ million HTTP attacks already[2]. BitNinja has a unique malware detection technique invented by Egri, the Source Code Structure Analysis. This method uses the same crowdsourcing model as their IP reputation system. With each new server added, the defense shield gets stronger. If BitNinja detects an attack on a server protected by them[1] , and the IP gets blocked, it will be not only blocked on that server but on every BitNinja protected server worldwide.
"It's another fool-proof layer. BitNinja has gathered individual security tools and protocols offered by major security vendors into a single machine-learning server security system that works with a social defense network. BitNinja will give our customers an even higher level of security."[3] - Matt McKinney, Canadian Web Hosting's Chief Strategy Officer
Investors
[edit]BitNinja joined CyLon's accelerator program in their first year. In November 2019 the company was valued at €3.65 million by economists and they received €500,000 of seed investment[4] from cybersecurity veterans and cloud entrepreneurs.
BalaBit
[edit]One of the main investors is BalaBit. They specialize in IT security systems, especially in privileged session management (PSM) and have more than 1 million corporate users worldwide.
Oktogon Ventures
[edit]Oktogon Ventures is the other main stockholder. Ustream was a cloud SaaS company which was bought by IBM and renamed IBM Cloud Video. The founder of Ustream, Gyula Fehér established a company with Vera Pistyur (CEO of Bridge Budapest) which invests in start-ups that have 100x growth potential.
Peter Perger
[edit]Peter Perger and his friend founded NetPincér in 1999, the number one online food order website in Hungary. The company was acquired in 2014 by the German company Foodpanda and two years later both of them by Delivery Hero.
Gergely Freész
[edit]Gergely Freész is one of the investors at Oxo Technologies Holdings. They are the leading investment company in the tech sector for the Central and East European region.
Appearances and papers
[edit]George is a frequent speaker and writer on cybercrime topics.
He has made speeches at several cybersecurity conferences, such as HostingCon in San (2015)[5], Cyber Security Day in London (2016)[6], Codemash (2016), World Hosting Days (2017)[7] and Cloudfest (2018, 2019[8]). He often hosts webinars[9] and has also written an e-Book, “The Art of Server Protection - Cybercrime Investigation and Defense for Shared Hosting Providers and Server Owners”. George often publishes studies and essays too; his most read article is about how to detect obfuscated malware on servers[10].
