I’m Tristan Perona, aliases including turtle the poet and ahugebox, a 20 year old student pursuing a Bachelor’s in English Literature at San Francisco State University. Per my degree’s workload, my palette for books involves those that are academically valuable. Intricate layers, metaphors and themes weaving over each other. If my short stories ever seem dense and verbose, it’s typically for that reason.

That being said, I’m not a dense and verbose person. I was lucky enough to be born into a middle-income family, so I’ve dabbled in a bit of everything. My interests mirror this; one day I’ll be jamming to Hamilton and another I’ll be showing off one of my friends in the Spoken Word community. This lifestyle has also given me much free time, typically spent on video games. I have over 300 hours in total spent playing the Persona series, and a little less than that in CS:GO.

Funnily enough, our circle the writer’s block started in the local community college, Ohlone. In a creative writing class of my second year, I sat, admiring a cute girl. I told my friend next to me, Aaron, that I wanted to spend time with her, and he said “If she’s interested in writing, write with her.”

Yes, the writer’s block was started by a 19 year old Tristan’s horniness. Perhaps it should go unsaid, but the pretty girl never joined the circle, which left me with the administrative responsibilities of running a writer’s circle. Writing was something I thoroughly enjoyed, so I honestly didn’t mind. We expanded outwards from Ohlone, eventually reaching out to the brainiac Patrick, and we’ve become a studious group that has a website.

Enjoy my work. My poetry, my short stories, everything. I’m going to be published one day, and you get to say, “I knew him when he was small!” And you get dope work to read. It’s a win-win, my friend.
