                                          DANCE AND MOVEMENT'

Most people perceive the general understanding of dance to movement forgetting not every movement means dance. I categorize movements in two forms; 1. Movement in action 2. Movement in dance Movement is action is any distance between which a body or parts travels in space and time. Movement in dance is the continuous change in shape to create meaning or artistic purposes. For example, A man weeding on his farm as an action can never be termed as dance movement if he has no intention of creating a space to fill a gap. Most explanations of dance definitions come with the key word rhythm which stands firm to back most people to argue against what action is determined as a dance movement. A normal action portrayed by anyone has rhythm but as to what rhythm is being considered as dance rhythm is when it is embodied with principles of Organization, element of composition in dance and quite a many element that assist to support the concept of dance. Movement with a purpose is dance, without is an action. Yes, actions have aims and purposes but from a conscious state of a person / dancer's mind create that space to execute the moveement( Bend A.(2021).
