Mr. Darcy is the name of a famous Jane Austen character known for his pride and haughty demeanor. Although he truly possesses a degree of these qualities beyond his flaws, Darcy is noted as a good man. Based on this famous character,the name Darcy has been used for the name of other characters, inspiration for other stories and even as a name for loved ones. In fact, Mr. Darcy is the name of a 14 year old Bichon Frise. The owners of Darcy named the white dog after the Jane Austen character as a tribute to a family member who was a fan of Austen's work and had (at that time) just passed away. The little white dog now in his old age, seems to take on character of Jane Austen's leading man pretty well and enjoys most of his time enjoying naps on his owner's bed.
