George Alexander Napier (26 May 1823 - 30 April 1869) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

His father was Alexander Napier (born c. 1797), a house painter from Montrose.

His mother was Isabella Japp (30 April 1801 - 5 January 1847) from Montrose. Alexander and Isabella married on 19 November 1820 in Montrose.

George Alexander Napier was born on 26 May 1823 in Montrose. He was baptised on 8 July 1823 in Montrose.

He married Margaret Fotheringham, the eldest daughter of John Fotheringham, a merchant of Montrose. They married on 27 September 1853 at Townhead Cottage, Fettercairn, Aberdeenshire. The banns were also issued in Kirkcaldy where George was then working as a railway manager.[6]

He died on 30 April 1869 at 5.30pm at his home at 6 Salisbury Street in Tradeston, Glasgow.
