Alexander Binning Monro (22 May 1805 - 12 December 1891) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was David Monro Binning (16 February 1776 - 24 January 1843) of Softlaw, from Inverleith House.

His mother was Sophia Hoome (born 5 August 1787) from Kilmadock in Perthshire. David And Sophia married on 6 August 1803 in Edinburgh.

Alexander Binning Monro was born on 22 May 1805 in Kilmadock.

He married Harriet Monro (2 August 1816 - 7 March 1898) from Edinburgh. They married on 4 August 1835 in Colinton, Edinburgh.

He became a Writer to the Signet in Edinburgh.

His fourth son Charles Carmichael Binning Monro (1 December 1851 - 20 April 1923) also became an artist.

He died on 12 December 1891 at Oxford.[8]

He was buried in St. Ninian's Churchyard in Stirling.[9]

The value of his estate was estimated at £12, 106 and 12 shillings.[10]
