John Mitchell (1837 - 14 July 1926) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was James Mitchell, a turner and millwright of Grandholm works.[9]

His mother was Elizabeth Macdonald (c. 1810 - 9 April 1887).[10] James and Elizabeth married on 5 February 1831 in Old Machar, Aberdeenshire.

John Mitchell was born in Woodside, Aberdeenshire c. 1837.

His uncle was the artist John Mitchell (c. 1809 - 25 April 1854).[11]

He died on 14 July 1926 in Aberdeen.[12][13]

The funeral was on 16 July at Allanvale cemetery.[14]
