Colin Gillespie Mitchell (24 August 1874 - 15 April 1938) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

His father was Robert MacFarlane Mitchell (17 February 1844 - 21 January 1911) from Glasgow. He was a coalmaster and a director of the colliery firm James Nimmo and Co. Ltd. He later became a Baillie in Glasgow District council.[3][4]

His mother was Matilda McMorland (13 June 1853 - 24 July 1925). Robert and Marilda married at her parent's home, 250 Renfrew Street, Glasgow on 2 April 1872.

Colin Gillespie Mitchell was born on 24 August 1874 in Glasgow.[5]

He first married Catherine Mary Birkman Gallaher (14 August 1886 - 29 April 1913). They married in 1911 in Anderston, Glasgow.

He then married Florence Letty Campbell. They married in Kelvingrove, Glasgow in 1936.[6]

He died in a nursing home in Glasgow on 15 April 1938. His usual address was 6 Park Quadrant, Glasgow. [7]

The funeral was at Dundonald Road, Kelvinside at Belhaven Church on 19 April 1938 and then went to Glasgow Necropolis.[8]
