James Raeburn Middleton (11 November 1855 - 7 April 1940) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was John Middleton (c. 1826 - 1890), a grain merchant from Sligo, Ireland.
His mother was Janet Raeburn (1834 - 4 February 1914) from Glasgow. John and Janet married on 7 July 1853 in Barony parish, Glasgow.
James Raeburn Middleton was born on 11 November 1855 at 265 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.[3]
He married Kathleen Sheridan (17 September 1895 - 25 March 1990) from Arva in Cavan, Ireland. They married on 18 December 1918 at 132 West Regent Street, Glasgow.
A son does not survive long after childbirth. Their daughter Kathleen Patricia Middleton (12 October 1930 - 6 November 1990) was born in Arva.
James and family emigrate to Detroit in the United States. They take in a lodger Robert Baxter. After James death, Baxter marries Kathleen Sheridan and brings Kathleen Patricia up as his daughter.
