James Beattie Michie (8 May 1891 - 22 February 1958) was a Scottish painter and architect.[1][2]

Life

His father was James Michie (29 April 1849 - 14 October 1908), a commercial traveller from Wilton in Roxburghshire.[3]

His mother was Jean Alexander Christie (6 August 1857 - 1935) from Kilmarnock. James and Jean married on 17 October 1878 in Dublin, Ireland.

James Beattie Michie was born on 8 May 1891 in Inverness.[4]

He married the artist Anne Redpath (29 March 1895 - 7 January 1965) from Galashiels. They married on 21 September 1920 in Teviothead, Roxburghshire.

Two of their sons David Michie and Alastair Michie were also artists.

He died on 22 February 1958 in the Royal Infirmary, Bristol, England.
