James Beattie Michie (8 May 1891 - 22 February 1958) was a Scottish painter and architect.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was James Michie (29 April 1849 - 14 October 1908), a commercial traveller from Wilton in Roxburghshire.[3]
His mother was Jean Alexander Christie (6 August 1857 - 1935) from Kilmarnock. James and Jean married on 17 October 1878 in Dublin, Ireland.
James Beattie Michie was born on 8 May 1891 in Inverness.[4]
He married the artist Anne Redpath (29 March 1895 - 7 January 1965) from Galashiels. They married on 21 September 1920 in Teviothead, Roxburghshire.
Two of their sons David Michie and Alastair Michie were also artists.

[edit]He died on 22 February 1958 in the Royal Infirmary, Bristol, England.
