John McLeod (18 July 1812 - 10 February 1872) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was Alexander McLeod.

His mother was Elizabeth, surname possibly Henderson as middle name of grandson.

John McLeod was born on 18 July 1812 in Golspie, Sutherland.

He married Mary Ann Carmichael (17 December 1807 - 8 August 1872) from Perth. John and Mary Ann married on 24 October 1834 in Canongate, Edinburgh.

Their son Robert Henderson McLeod (1845 - 23 June 1912) became a sculptor.
