Charles Mackay (25 October 1867 - 9 December 1947) was a Scottish painter and furniture designer.[1][2]

Life

His father was Angus Mackay (8 August 1842 - 26 April 1913), a master cabinet maker in Glasgow, originally from Dunbeath in Caithness. He employed 20 men, 6 women and 2 boys in his business.[3]

His mother was Catherine Arbuthnot Mackenzie (23 March 1847 - 9 December 1925) from the Gorbals in Glasgow. Angus and Catherine married on 20 January 1867 in Tradeston, Glasgow.

Charles Mackay was born on 25 October 1867 in Govan, Glasgow.[4]

He married Isabel Maude Midgeley (8 November 1871 - 3 May 1906) from Anderston in Glasgow. They married on 18 August 1898 in Cambuslang.

They had a daughter Catherine Maude Mackay (18 December 1899 - 1997).

He died on 9 December 1947 at Crossbasket, High Blantyre, South Lanarkshire. His usual address was his home Finnart in Wellshot Drive, Cambuslang.
