Somerled Macdonald (18 August 1868 - 25 March 1948) was a Scottish painter and noted piper.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was Lachlan Mackinnon Macdonald (1833 - 18 April 1910), the Laird of Skeabost, from Sleat.
His mother was Wilhelmina Felicia Mackenzie (14 March 1841 - 17 January 1925) from India. They married on 23 January 1865 in India.
Somerled Macdonald was born on 18 August 1868 at Orbost in the Duirnish parish of the Isle of Skye.
He married Mary Frances Lang (born 1867) from Fyvie in Aberdeenshire. They married on 19 November 1892 in Kolkata, India. Mary was the sister of the actor Matheson Lang.
