Arthur Macdonald (1870 - 29 August 1951) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was Arthur Macdonald [Snr], an artist, as seen from Arthur's marriage certificate.
His mother was Josephine Braye (born c. 1854) in Glasgow.[3]
Arthur Braye was born in Manchester, England, in the summer of 1870.[4]
Both Josephine and Arthur later used the name Macdonald.
He married Anne McFarlane (died 22 April 1951) on 19 June 1901 in Abercrombie in Fife.
Art
[edit]He went to the Glasgow School of Art.[5]
Death
[edit]He died at a hospital on 29 August 1951 in Pittenweem, Fife. The funeral was on 1 September 1951.[7] He is buried in Pittenweem Cemetery.[8]
