Arthur Macdonald (1870 - 29 August 1951) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

His father was Arthur Macdonald [Snr], an artist, as seen from Arthur's marriage certificate.

His mother was Josephine Braye (born c. 1854) in Glasgow.[3]

Arthur Braye was born in Manchester, England, in the summer of 1870.[4]

Both Josephine and Arthur later used the name Macdonald.

He married Anne McFarlane (died 22 April 1951) on 19 June 1901 in Abercrombie in Fife.

He went to the Glasgow School of Art.[5]

Death

He died at a hospital on 29 August 1951 in Pittenweem, Fife. The funeral was on 1 September 1951.[7] He is buried in Pittenweem Cemetery.[8]
