Alexander Macdonald Macdonald (10 March 1851 - 30 June 1906) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was Alexander Macdonald Macdonald [Snr] (9 May 1818 - 26 November 1891), a house painter from Arbroath, Angus.[7][8]

His mother was Eliza Moore Kidd (2 October 1818 - 29 September 1898), known as Betsy. Alexander [Snr] and Betsy married on 12 September 1848 in Arbroath.

Alexander Macdonald Macdonald was born on 10 March 1851 in Arbroath.[9][10]

Death

He died on 30 June 1906 at 8.30pm at 11 Leith Street Terrace in Edinburgh. 11 Leith Street Terrace at the time was the site of Lennox's Temperance Hotel, offering rooms from 7 pence per night. He died of alcoholism and heart failure as attested by his death certificate. He was buried in Arbroath Abbey.[11]
