Her mother was Jemima Smeal (11 September 1832 - 19 November 1908) from Glasgow. James and Jemima married on 12 June 1856 in Glasgow.
Helen Urie Henderson was born on 15 April 1859 in the High Church parish of Paisley.[3] [4]
For a while James Henderson became a pub inspector and the family moved to south, first to Blackburn in Lancashire, England and then to Kensington, London around 1871.
The family returned north to Glasgow. They stayed in Glenval villa in the south side of the city.
Helen Henderson was to marry a shipowner Thomas Law (1846 - 13 November 1881). They married on 30 March 1881 in Blackfriars parish, Glasgow.[5][6] [7] [8] [9] [10]
Unfortunately Thomas died months later.[11] Helen soon had her first child Lilian May Law (24 January 1882 - 1928).
