Stuart Johnston (29 January 1891 - 27 November 1947) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was William Johnston (15 July 1856 - 17 February 1920), a commercial traveller selling pottery from Alva in Clackmannanshire.
His mother was Margaret Livingstone (12 June 1858 - 1937) from Peniver near Campbeltown in Kintyre. William and Margaret married in Stirling in 1878.
Stuart Johnston was born on 29 January 1891 in Cupar, Fife.
He married Agnes Young (10 June 1891 - 5 January 1983) from Glasgow. They married on 18 March 1918 in Glasgow.
They had a daughter Amy Johnston (17 October 1928 - 26 May 1978), born in Glasgow.
Art
[edit]He studied at Glasgow School of Art.
Death
[edit]He died on 27 November 1947 in Glasgow. He stayed at 37 Winton Drive, Kelvinside.[5]
