John Young Hunter (29 October 1874 - 9 August 1955) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was the artist Colin Hunter (1841 – 24 September 1904) from Glasgow.
His mother was Isabella Rattray Young (born c. 1853), daughter of the surgeon dentist John H. Young.
John Young Hunter was born on 20 October 1874 in Glasgow.
He married the artist Mary Towgood (11 April 1872 - 8 September 1947) from Napier in New Zealand, on 18 November 1899 in Kensington, London.[3]
They had a daughter Gabrielle Young Hunter (4 May 1905 - 6 August 1978), born in Wickhambrook, Suffolk, England.

[edit]He died on 9 August 1955 in Taos, New Mexico in the United States, in the art colony there.[5]
