[edit]His father was James Brook Howie (1896 - 1986), a lithographer from Dundee.
His mother was Janet Stuart Robbie (13 March 1901 - 1986) from Dundee. James and Janet married in 1930 in Dundee.
James Clark Howie was born on 30 November 1931 in Dundee.
