Alexander Bryson Gillespie (14 May 1870 - 6 December 1944) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was William Peter Gillespie (31 March 1841 - 2 July 1904), a teacher from Falkirk.
His mother was Isabella Thomson (c. 1842 - 9 May 1921) from Paisley. William and Isabella married on 23 January 1868 at Paisley Abbey.
Alexander Bryson Gillespie was born 14 May 1870 in Denny, Stirlingshire.
Another two sisters in the family became artists: Floris Mary Gillespie and Janetta Susan Gillespie.
He married Robina Mitchell (c. 1870 - c. 1957).

[edit]He died on 6 December 1944 at Kilkerran, Strathyre. His usual address was at St. John's Avenue, Corstorphine, Edinburgh.[3] He is buried in Callander cemetery.
