Flora MacDonald Reid (25 July 1860 - ) was a Scottish artist.[1]

Life

Her father was Edmund Reid, an agent staying at 27 Broughton Street, Edinburgh from 1851, staying at 5 Deanhaugh Street, Edinburgh before that.

Her mother was Elizabeth Gray. Edmund and Elizabeth married on 3 April 1844 in Edinburgh.

It was an artistic family. Her brother John Robertson Reid (6 August 1851 – 10 February 1926) was born in Edinburgh[2] and became an artist. Her sister Elizabeth (30 May 1854 -), known as Lizzie, was also born in Edinburgh and became an artist.[3]

The family moved down to England for work.

Flora Macdonald Reid was born on 25 July 1860 in Islington, London while the family was in England; when an infant she and her family moved back to Scotland where she was brought up.

In 1881, her brother John moved to London and the sisters followed.

Flora stayed at 62 Parkhill Road, Hampstead, London with her brother John Robertson Reid. Her next door neighbour in 1939 at 60 Parkhill Road was the artist Piet Mondrian.

She studied art at the Trustees' Academy in Edinburgh.
