Jane Clark (8 April 1853 - 13 December 1950) was a Scottish painter.[1]
Life
[edit]Her father was John Clark (baptised 28 December 1821 - 1906), a cotton mill owner, originally from Wigton in Cumbria.
Her mother was Janet Eisten (3 August 1823 - 1908) from Glasgow. John and Janet married on 1 August 1851 in Glasgow.
Jane Clark was born on 8 April 1853 in the Barony parish of Glasgow.
She married John George Steven (7 August 1866 - 22 August 1898), a Glasgow stockbroker. Known as George Steven, they married in Glasgow in 1892. George died at Strone near Kilmun in Argyll in 1898.

Art
[edit]She, along with her brother John Clark, was keenly interested in paisley shawls.
Death
[edit]She died on 13 December 1950 at 251 Wilton Street, Glasgow. Her usual address was 22 Doune Terrace, Glasgow. The death certificate stated she died of senility and cardiac degeneration.
