Henrietta Jane Smith (8 July 1849 - 2 March 1935) was a Scottish painter.[1] She was one of the founders of the Glasgow Society of Lady Artists in 1882.
Life
[edit]Her father was Robert Smith, a muslin manufacturer.
Her mother was Margaret Gibson (born c. 1810), from Paisley. Robert and Margaret married on 22 October 1833 in Glasgow.
Henrietta Janet Smith was born on 8 July 1849 in Glasgow.
She married Alexander Paterson Robertson (5 July 1848 - 17 September 1874) on 20 April 1871 at 24 Oakfield Terrace, Glasgow.[2]
They emigrated to Victoria, Australia in April 1874. They emigrated on the ship Ben Vorlich. Alexander died in Victoria months later in September; and Henrietta returned to Scotland.

[edit]Henrietta died on 2 March 1935 in Glasgow.
The value of her estate was given as £2418, 2 shillings and 11 pence.
