John Davidson (c. 1825 - 4 December 1896) was a Scottish painter.[1]
Life
[edit]His father was Thomas Davidson (28 August 1792 - 1865), an auctioneer from Stow, Scottish Borders.
His mother was Mary Johnston from Leith.
John Davidson was about 1825 in Old Pentland near Glencorse in Midlothian.
He married Christina Dewar (born c. 1833). They married on 31 July 1853 in Edinburgh.

[edit]He died on 4 December 1896 in 40 Upper Gray Street, Newington in Edinburgh. The cemetery register of the Grange cemetery in southern Edinburgh states that he died of acute influenza. He was buried on 8 December 1896.
