Albert Chanler (1875 - 7 March 1942) was a Scottish painter.
Life
[edit]His father was George William Chandler (born 10 April 1853), a trade protection society manager from Aston Abbot in Buckinghamshire, England. He moved north for work after his marriage, first to Sheffield and then to Glasgow.
His mother was Mary Ann Roberts (1846 - 1880). George and Mary married on 26 May 1872 in London. Mary was to die shortly after Albert was born and his father remarried. Sarah Elizabeth Scarborough was George's second wife, bearing Annie Alberta Chandler in Sheffield and George William Chandler [Jnr] in Crosshill, Renfrewshire.
Albert Edward Chandler was born around April - June 1875 in Sheffield, England, and brought up in Scotland. He always used his surname as Chanler.
He became a mercantile clerk.
He married Mary Dickson (born c. 1874) in Glasgow on 14 August 1896.
