William Caldwell (20 March 1836 - 12 April 1900) was a Scottish painter.[1]
Life
[edit]His father was James Caldwell (born c. 1814), an artist from Newmilns, Ayrshire.
His mother was Elizabeth Strang.
William Caldwell was born on 20 March 1836 in Galston, Ayrshire.
He married Elizabeth Connelly (c. 1840 - 1898). They married in Edinburgh on 17 July 1859.

[edit]He died on 12 April 1900 at 2 Gillespie Street, Edinburgh. The death certificate stated he died of cardiac disease and nephritis, suffering from these for 3 months. His cousin Isabella Gray Stewart of Langside, Glasgow attested to his death.
