John Cairns (5 December 1820 - 29 April 1867) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life

His father was Adam Cairns (c. 1798 - 3 November 1880) from Paisley.

His mother was Margaret Haldane (c. 1799 - 30 August 1872). They married on 7 July 1820 in Paisley.

John Cairns was born on 5 December 1820 in Paisley.

He married Jane Duff Baillie (30 November 1823 - 30 August 1855) from Inverness-shire. They married on 25 July 1854 at 25 Renfield Street, Glasgow.

After his first wife died he remarried Janet McIndoe (born c. 1820) from Rothesay. They married on 18 August 1857 in Rothesay.

Death

He died on 29 April 1867 in Edinburgh at 14 Henderson Row. The death certificate stated he died of acute peritonitis.[2][3][4]
