Robert Alexander Brownlie (24 May 1861 - 10 May 1897) was a Scottish painter.[1]
Life
[edit]His father was John Brownlie (born c. 1817), a butcher from Wishaw.
His mother was Jane Sands (born c. 1817), from Menteith in Perthshire. They married on 13 January 1839 in the Gorbals, Glasgow.
Robert Alexander Brownlie was born on 24 May 1861 in the Gorbals, Glasgow.
Art

[edit]He died on 10 May 1897 at 38 Norfolk Street, the Gorbals, Glasgow. The death certificate stated he died of Bright's disease, a kidney inflammation, and that he suffered from it for 8 months. The disease is now known as chronic nephritis.
