John Maclaren Barclay (27 February 1811 - 1 December 1886) was a Scottish painter.[1]
Life
[edit]His father was David Barclay (c. 1781 - 6 December 1852) from Perth.
His mother was Janet Maclaren (born c. 1791) from Muthill. David and Janet married in August 1880 in Muthill.
John Maclaren Barclay was born in Perth on 27 February 1811.[2]
He was educated at Perth Academy.[3]
He married Mary Ann Ross (born c. 1825) from Banchory.
Art
[edit]He went to the Trustees' Academy.[4]
Death
[edit]He died in Edinburgh on 1 December 1886 at his home at 11 Forres Street.[5] He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
