William Gardner Rowan (1845 - 30 June 1924) was a Scottish painter and architect.[1][2]

His father was John Rowan (c. 1814 - 16 March 1896), a steam hammer smith from Dailly in Ayrshire.[8]

His mother was Janet Gardner (c. 1816 - 5 May 1900) from Old Kilpatrick in West Dunbartonshire. John and Janet married on 13 April 1839 in Old Kilpatrick.[9]

William Gardner Rowan was born in 1845.[10]

He married Lizzie Neill, the daughter of John Neill of Glasgow. They married on 19 October 1881 in Manchester, England.[11]

Death

He died on 30 June 1924 at Kittochside, Auldhouse Road in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire. The value of his estate was £6360, 8 shillings and 7 pence.[12][13] He was buried in Cathcart cemetery.
