Samuel Reid (4 July 1854 - 16 April 1919) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was George Reid (29 September 1803– 11 May 1882) from Aberdeen, manager of the Aberdeen Copper Company.[8]

His mother was Esther Tait (9 May 1810 – 2 February 1892) from Carnbee in Fife.

Samuel Reid was born in Aberdeen on 4 July 1854. He was baptised on 26 August 1854.[9]

He married Agnes Stewart from Liverpool, England.

They had a daughter Muriel.

His brothers were the artists George Reid and Archibald David Reid.

Death

He died as a result of suicide on 16 April 1919. He shot himself. He was suffering from lung trouble and could stand it no more. He died at his home in Caversham Lodge, Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, England.[10]

His estate was valued at £331, 13 shillings and 2 pence.
