James Christie Prowett (26 October 1864 - 13 January 1946) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was James Fryers Prowett (c. 1827 - 1 July 1907), watchmaker and jeweller of Bannockburn in Stirlingshire, originally from England.

His mother was Agnes Christie (born c. 1836) of Bannockburn. James [Snr] and Agnes married on 27 April 1855 in Stirling, after the banns were issued on 15 April 1855.[7]

James Christie Prowett was born in Bannockburn on 26 October 1864.[8]

He married Anna Lees (died 1937), the daughter of Peter Lees. They married on 2 August 1906 at the Esplanade in Stirling.[9]

Death

He died on 13 January 1946 at Forresterhill in Aberdeen.[10] The funeral was on 16 January 1946. He was buried in the Valley cemetery in Stirling.[11] His estate was valued at £6507.[12]
