Arthur Perigal (17 August 1816 - 5 June 1884) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was the artist Arthur Perigal [Snr] (10 January 1784 - 19 September 1847), born in London and settled in Edinburgh. The Perigals were French protestant exiles that moved to England.
His mother was Louisa Susanna Pilleau (1780-1861), of another Huguenot family that similarly moved to England. Arthur [Snr] and Louisa married in England on 1 September 1812.
Arthur Perigal was the couple's eldest son. He was born on 17 August 1816 in London.[3] He was schooled in Edinburgh.[4]
He married Hannah Stevenson (25 November 1827 - 14 April 1918) from Roxburgh in the Scottish Borders. They married on 29 August 1847 in Edinburgh.

[edit]He died on 5 June 1884 in Edinburgh.[6][7] He is buried in Dean cemetery, Edinburgh.[8]
