His mother was Euphemia Hannah Lowe (11 September 1834 - 11 August 1900) from Edinburgh. Robert and Euphemia married on 23 April 1857 in Edinburgh.
Robert Edouard Stirling Paterson was born on 12 October 1872 in Edinburgh.[4]
He married Eleanor Margaret Kersley on July 10 1900 at St. Stephen's Church, Ealing, Middlesex, London.[5]
He married Betty Milman in 1924 in Edinburgh.[6]
