Mary Viola Paterson (19 February 1899 - 5 November 1981) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life

Her father was the architect and artist Alexander Nisbet Paterson (3 May 1862 - 10 July 1947) from Glasgow.
Her mother was the artist Maggie Hamilton (1 September 1867 – 31 January 1952) from Glasgow. Alexander and Maggie married on 29 April 1897 in the Claremont Church in Sandyford, Glasgow.[4]
Mary Viola Paterson was born on 19 February 1899 at The Turret in Helensburgh.[5]

[edit]She died on 5 November 1981 at the Vale of Leven hospital in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire. Her usual address was then the Long Croft, Helensburgh. The funeral was on 9 November 1981.[6]
