John Hony Oswald (16 February 1829 - 27 July 1899) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was Edward Oswald (16 November 1800 - 7 November 1854), a coachman from Abbotshall in Fife.[8]

His mother was Catherine Glasgow (19 August 1805 - 30 January 1877) from Kirknewton and East Calder, Midlothian. Edward and Catherine married on 20 October 1827 in Edinburgh.[9]

John Hony Oswald was baptised on 16 February 1829 in Limerick, Ireland.

The family moved back to Scotland in 1831.

Death

He died on 27 July 1899 in Edinburgh. He is buried in Warriston cemetery, Edinburgh.[10][11]
