Russian athlete Irina Korzhanenko is stripped of her title in the women's shot put event, after testing positive for stanozolol. The title is awarded to Yumileidi Cumba of Cuba instead.
American swimmer Aaron Peirsol is stripped of his title in the men's 200 metre backstroke for an illegal turn. The title is awarded to Markus Rogan of Austria.
Irish priest Neil Horan grabs Brazilian athlete Vanderlei de Lima (pictured) and pushes him into the crowd. Lima, who was leading the men's marathon when this occurred, eventually finished third.
