The organochlorine PCP (pentachlorophenol, C6Cl5OH) is a wood preservative biocide.

Degradation

PCP is degraded by some bacteria, including Sphingobacterium chlorophenolscum [1]

PCP→TCHQ→TriCHQ→DCHQ→2,4-dichloro-3-hydroxyl-cis,cis-muconic semialdehyde.
