I'm Adrian Webb, an academic at the University of Exeter in the UK doing a PhD in philosophy researching the relationship between hermeneutics (and specifically narrative theory) with the philosophical field of mental fictionalism. I have published work on the nested hermeneutics of tropes in psychedelic literature which focuses on problems that arise due to Aldous Huxley’s 1954 work, The Doors of Perception misquoting the philosopher C. D. Broad in his exposition of Mind at Large. My interest in philosophical hermeneutics focuses specifically on Paul Ricoeur's work on symbolism, metaphor and personal identity.

I left a 35 year gap between an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and my Masters in Philosophy at Exeter. During that time, I held senior roles in numerious UK businesses including as a board director of Go.Compare from 2015 to 2021.

I remain Chair of a UK digital business and an investor in a number of start-up businesses in health, the arts and technology.

Otherwise, a gigging jazz musician, ardent cyclist and local history detective focusing on Dorset and Devon, UK, where I live close to the ancient Monmouth Rebellion town of Colyton.
