Crooked Spoon Fire (2020) new article content ... On April 13, 2020 a large fire broke out in Grand Marais, Minnesota. The fire began in the Crooked Spoon restaurant and quickly spread to destroy both the White Pine North and Picnic & Pine gift stores. volunteer firefighters from several different fire departments (Grand Marais, Hovland, Maple Hill, etc...) battled the blaze for over 4 hours before they were able to fully contain the fire. In the aftermath of the blaze, an excavator was called in by the City of Grand Marais to clear debris from the three completely destroyed buildings.
