East Duplin High School (informally known as "East Duplin" or simply "E.D.") is a public, comprehensive high school located in Beulaville, North Carolina. Established in 1963, East Duplin primarily serves students from three Duplin County feeder schools: Beulaville Elementary, B.F. Grady Elementary, and Chinquapin Elementary.
Academics
[edit]As of 2008, 12 East Duplin faculty members are National Board Certified. The state average among schools with similar grade ranges is 8 per school.

Athletics
[edit]East Duplin fields 10 men's and 9 women's teams and competes in the NCHSAA East Central Conference in class 2A. Known as the "Panthers," EDHS has won one state championship, claiming the 1998 women's basketball title. Named Most Valuable Player of the state championship game, Clifeteana McKiver went on to a successful college career, both at East Carolina University and Tulane University, as well as in the WNBA with the (now defunct) Charlotte Sting and Phoenix Mercury. McKiver has additional honors as East Duplin's all-time leader in scoring and blocked shots, and was a 3 year letter winner in track and field. She also holds the North Carolina High School class 2A record in discuss (133'1", 1997).
In 1997-98, McKiver was named the NCHSAA Female Player of the Year, an honor she shared with male counterpart Julius Peppers.
The Men's Basketball team reached the state championship game in East Duplin's first year of existence, but were defeated by North Edgecombe, 51-44, in the 1963 title game.
Football
[edit]East Duplin consistently fields a competitive football team. Head coach Brian Aldridge has held the position for 24 years and has amassed over 200 victories.

As a senior at East Duplin, NFL player Greg Peterson was awarded all-conference and all-state honors, and was named the team's Most Valuable Player in addition to being voted East Duplin's Male Athlete of the Year. Peterson played college football at North Carolina Central University where he was named an All-American and a Black College All-American. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquired Peterson in the 5th round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
