Meghdeep Bose is an Indian Music Composer, Producer, Arranger & Singer. He is known for his work in songs like Swag Se Swagat,[2] Main Hoon Hero Tera,[3] Bol Do Na Zara,[4] and films like MS Dhoni,[4] Sarbjit, Dangal,[5] Black Prince[6][7] etc.
Early Life
[edit]Meghdeep was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to father Dilip Bose and mother Shraddha Bose. Being born in a family of four generation of musicians, Meghdeep took to music at a very early age[8]. His father was a renowned Musician for hindi catholic music. Meghdeep spent most of his early years accompanying his father to studios for recording sessions, thus developing a keen taste towards music.
After early schooling in Indore, the family moved to Bhopal, where Meghdeep continued his studies at St Josephs Co-ed school. During this period of school years, Meghdeep trained himself in various instruments such as keyboard, guitars, drums and other musical instruments all by himself. Being a quick learner, Meghdeep quickly perfected his skills on the instruments and started performing at local shows and events. He also started started working part time with his father, assisting him in arranging and programming music.
At the age of 17, Meghdeep decided to study further on the western classical music styles and hence started taking classes of Piano lessons under Dr Fr. Charles Vas SVD, eventually graduating through grades under the curriculums of Trinity College of Music, London (Guildhall).
Around the same time he also underwent a thorough study of Rabindra Sangeet, under Mrs. Madhuri Mukherjee in Bhopal. There, he further went on to receive a "Sangeet Sri" from Rabindra Bharati University University (via Rabindra Sangam).
Meghdeep continued his training in various other forms and instruments. He received foundational training in Tabla & Indian Classical Vocals under Pt. Kiran Deshpande. Although a self made guitarist & arranger, Meghdeep considers Mr. Jerson Antony (Ernakulam) as a huge influence and inspiration to his works.[9]
Apart from music, Meghdeep also completed his bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Bhopal School of Social Sciences.
Career
[edit]Meghdeep started his early music career under his father where he assisted his father for 5 years.[10] He also collaborated with artists such as Mahalakshmi Iyer, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Jerson Antony on other projects in this period. Meghdeep was selected for the prestigious Berkley College of Music, Boston in 2012 where he received the Dean's Merit Award along with scholarship. However, Meghdeep could not attend this prestigious institute due to financial conditions at the time. Meghdeep moved to Mumbai in 2013, where his career began as an assistant to music Director Raju Singh. He worked on developing film and television scores. During this period, he also worked alongside other music composers such as Shankar Ehsaan Loy and artists such as Sivamani, Shivam Pathak, Swaroop Khan and others.
In 2015, Amaal Malik overheard Meghdeep while he was working on another project at Yash Raj Films in Mumbai.[10] Impressed by his skillset, Amaal Offerred him to produce and arrange a song named “Main Hoon Hero Tera” for the film Hero, which was sung by Amaal Malik himself and later by filmstar Salman Khan[11]. Post this project, Meghdeep collaborated with Amaal for various popular songs such as Mujhe Apna Bana ke (Hate Story 3), Tu Bhula Jise (Airlift), Bol Do Na Zaara (Azhar), Jab Tak (MS Dhoni). Meghdeep also worked with other famous music composers such as Salim Sulaiman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Pritam, Clinton Cerejo, Mikey McCleary, A Sivamani, Stephen Devassy, Arun Janya, Shashi Shivamm among others. His most recent works are songs for Helicopter Eela Composed by Amit Trivedi[12].
