Topic: American Dream
[edit]List of Contributions: -expand on the Literature part of the page, in giving more examples of actual American Ideals. Also, going into depth on how these American Ideals were illuminated throughout American Literature, with more examples of American Ideals within well known American Literary works.
Topic 2: National Narrative
[edit]List of Contributions: -Create a page for National Narrative, in regards to American Literature.
Update
[edit]For this project, I feel as if this might have been too ambitious, especially for my lack of knowledge of Wikipedia, so I decided not to pursue this page right now.
Topic 3: Southern United States
[edit]List of Contributions: -Add a section to Southern United States and how, in the early to mid 1800's, the south was distinct from the north, in terms of American Literature.
Instructor Comments
[edit]While some of these topics might lead to good contributions, Abeat3, you haven't linked to any existing topics that would give your reader an idea of what articles you're thinking of editing. You'll also want to make sure that any edits you do are connected to the study of literature, and not just to history, and that the information isn't duplicated elsewhere on Wikipedia. For instance, while there is no page for "American Ideals," there is an existing page for American Dream that would likely cover the same topics. And I'm not sure how you would contribute to Confederate States of America in a way that would further our understanding of American literature, although I'm open to all possibilities. I'd be happy to discuss options with you as you continue to narrow down your focus. Nadinecross78 (talk) 20:22, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Abeat3, while some further additions have been made here, I'm not sure yet exactly what articles you will be editing,. nor specifically how you will be editing those articles. The article that seems most promising here is the literature section of American Dream. I noticed that it is rather underdeveloped, and not well-supported with research, and you seem to have noticed the same problems. This is certainly something you could work on. Again, though, as long as all of these topics remain on your page, and without the bulleted list of edits (due 10/16), the summary of edits (die 10/31), and postings to the Talk pages of the relevant articles (also due 10/31), it is not yet clear yet what you are working on, so I can't offer more detailed feedback. Finally, all of these posts should be on your User Talk page, not your User page. That will make it easier for other users to find your work. Nadinecross78 (talk) 21:57, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- I just realized that my instructions for this assignment contained an error. The assignment said to post your summary to your User Page (not your User:Talk page, which is what I intended), so you won't be penalized for posting here (though you should still move your info to your Talk page so other Users can more easily find what you are working on).
